Children's Meeting

Older children or teenagers who feel comfortable spending an hour in silence, perhaps reading, are very welcome to join in meeting for worship. However, we know this is challenging for most children so we hold a children’s meeting at 10:30 every Sunday in Wandsworth Meeting House.

Teenagers need different things from meeting, so we hold a separate Junior meeting for young people aged 11–16 years at 10:30 on the first Sunday of each month in Wandsworth Meeting House.

Our Meeting for Worship starts at 10:30, and the children and young people sit with their parents in the meeting room for the first 10 minutes or so until the children's meeting leader takes them out. We find that even the youngest children learn to sit still and become immersed in the silence.

You are welcome to go with your child to help them settle in. Once they are used to us and happy to leave with the meeting's leader, you can stay in Meeting for Worship.

Children’s activities are based on a monthly theme and include craft projects and light education about Quakers.

Junior meeting themes include discussions about faith, Quaker history, and moral issues.

We are committed to keeping people safe, especially children, young people and adults at risk who are engaged with meetings or activities within Quakers in South West London. You can read our Safeguarding Policy here.
